Just really...forceful in their assumption that the rules of wicca apply to witchcraft in general, and it's just typically bad feels for me tbh?

@spiderrobotpig *nods* my biggest problem with Wicca is that it's symbolically empty to me, mired in stale assumptions about gender, but its practitioners tried to cram other mythologies into this inadequate framework and pretend they fit fine.

@kara_dreamer Yeah, definitely not a fan of that either, but I have heard some practitioners -trying- to be trans-positive, which is more than I can say for some sects *coughanythinginvolvingdianacough*

@spiderrobotpig Loki has been a strong but chaotic influence; I tooted a whole bunch of stuff about Loki that I'm hoping to put online in some other form in a day or two. Hecate has been of great assistance at times. But I've been disorganized and getting reminders about my poor focus :/

Hecate seems interesting? I remember Hestia was hanging around for a bit, but she just kinda left, and then I started talking with Salacia

@spiderrobotpig never could figure why the Greeks decided Hestia needed to be a virgin. That's a stumbling-block for me. A virginal den-mother? Since when did that make sense

@spiderrobotpig there's a lot of the Greek pantheon that's fucked up by the society's hideous sexism (this is kinda painful to me cos studying Classics was my route into paganism and I translated Homer in school and stuff like that, but I can't deny that ancient Greek had some truly wretched ideas about how people should get along.) Like, how Artemis ends up being a weak copy of Apollo and not a fully-rounded goddess of the hunt; other cultures link huntress-goddesses to fertility but again Greece had to make their huntress a virgin, so Artemis ends up being this weird knockoff of a powerful god, like the Supergirl to Apollo's Superman

Like culturally, a *lot* of classic pantheons are kind of garbage, and working with them through the BS is kind of annoying?

My familiar @kel (auxiliary personality I regard as my "familiar", say hello little noodle), who got started before _I_ did really, has been in favor of a highly individualized approach, feeling free to edit pantheons to make them line up better with xer perception of where the true archetype lives, if that makes any sense

@spiderrobotpig @kara_dreamer spinning out the end of a pretty eventful day actually! we didn't do any _magic_ per se but we completed a playthrough of "Undertale", which for us is almost a magical act; we have built a personal mythology around the game, and feel compelled to return to it from time to time, to reconnect, you could say. :} but now it's time to move on to new things! (tomorrow)

@spiderrobotpig @kel I credit that game for helping me to rediscover magic, and to help me come out. I'm deeply in Undertale's debt, in a way. But Kel is right, there's a lot more out there ^^
