at first I thought Ex-Aid was just cunningly mapping the tropes of medical melodrama onto stereotypes about gamers, but then they started adding some credible depth to the stereotypes, like Taiga's genuine need for validation as a doctor and not an "unlicensed fraud", and Hiiro's deep conviction that he's basically already failed as a doctor because he blames himself for his girlfriend's death. I'm loving it (even as I feel the sting of watching a show that I've succeeded in bonding with emotionally, and I start to weep along with the characters on screen, because I'm a sap. *wry smile*)
