@Hiraelle it's kinda true, though, that I don't see people doing this that much? I do, from time to time, but it seems like back when I was growing up in the '80s it was a lot more common
@Hiraelle @kara_dreamer my mom used to roll her eyes at saying that it looked bad when I did it but she got used to it
@kara_dreamer @Hiraelle (bc large hips) (at least compared to my sisters and her)
@sempervirenx @kara_dreamer sounds as silly as the "don't put your hands in your pockets" and the "don't put things in your pocket except for maybe a card because it's slim"
@Hiraelle @sempervirenx for me it's more like "don't put your hands in your pockets because you're wearing women's jeans now and the pockets can't fit more than one thing at a time"
@kara_dreamer @sempervirenx there's that too
but you can find some dresses that have large pockets
not many tho
@Hiraelle @kara_dreamer yeah bullshit fashion rules
@Hiraelle not me either :( that was the one useful thing about disappearing into the "nondescript male nerd" self-image that was all I had for decades: I didn't have to care any more about how I looked, so I just ignored fashion. Now though I want to start looking better and all those worries about fashion are back.
@kara_dreamer maybe? But I mean, I hadn't given *any* thought as to whether it was "fashionably acceptale" or not, it's just supposed to be a practical thing
I don't understand fashion and this kinda stuff
