Today, especially, I'm thinking about how the message of this shirt isn't just about the obvious meaning, but about people like Tipsy who suffer more indirectly at society's hands but with the same result.

I remember Tipsy was such an anarchist. She was constantly reading anarchist literature. She took me to where she got hers. She shared with me books on Witchcraft, too.

All this talk around here about death and grief has reminded me of something my dad (a doctor) told me once: grief is _necessary_. It's the way our brains process trauma. Accepting you are sad and hurting is necessary to heal.

He talked about how many people turn to antidepressants to avoid the pain, and that results in a lot of mental problems down the line, because that keeps you from accepting the truth.

Feel it. Accept it. You are sad and that is OK. You'll be fine. You'll heal

Natalie Nguyen, Tipsy Tentacle, was part of my pack. I didn't make it official, but she was. I ran with her in the woods outside of my house and I felt our connection. She helped us clean our den, she provided for us.

I am so proud to say she was one of us.

Thinking about how recent social networks have shifted from topic-focused (bbforums, reddit, image boards) to person-focused (tumblr, twitter, etc.) where rather than subscribing to a topic and space where anyone participates in the conversation that way, you subscribe to a specific person and everything that they have to say. on twitter nothing you say will be seen unless people are following you; or if you post to a hashtag which is, let's be honest, not commonly looked at.

in the far future, we have colonized the entire galaxy. we still rely on twitter^tm for social media. all tweets are 140 characters. all languages have mutated to accommodate this. entire essays can be read in a tweet.
