I hope you were able to find a way to have Natalie's memory respected more than what her parents have offered her.

You know, the thing I can't help but notice is that the funeral director was aware of us. Prepared for it. Was ready for us.
He was less sympathetic than any other official we talked to about the subject. Her parents pushed hard to get her deadname on the death certificate. We were lied to about the name.

They went to a transphobic funeral home. Deliberately. With malice.

And that weasel of an asshole was happy to help her.

People like this? They do not deserve closure for their child's death.

Not until they fucking own up to being a part of it, then to pissing on their memory afterwards, ripping apart everything that person fought so hard to achieve.

I cannot 'forgive' people who not only don't make amends, but retreat /even further/ in the direction of hate & bigotry.

The deaths that result *should* gnaw at them at night.

We're going to pour out some of Natalie's favorite Japanese whiskey out near the bridge we crossed before she died. For the bridge spirit, our boundary between one another, and wish her well.

We will be holding a memorial/wake for Natalie at Gay City Seattle, Sunday November 19th from 12-3pm. There will be a potluck and eulogizing, so bring food and prepared remarks if you desire. Any and all are invited.

FYI, Facebook is now effectively a part of the US government. A judge has just ruled that State prosecutors will be allowed to search the Facebook records of two people in connection with the #J20 protests, despite those two people not being charged with any crimes. They're also prohibited from appealing the ruling, meaning that your 4th amendment rights do not apply anymore.
