@Josephine I seem to have settled into a particularly okay makeup situation, if I may need to relearn how to do fancier things (lost skills from early days having to do a full face of makeup)

I question whether I look at women 5, 10 years younger than me and try to emulate them because they are what is HERE.

I almost always feel more well-dressed than friends at social things. I've kind of accepted that I'm the fetching femme of the group and they seem to be fine with that too. Knowing didn't want to go punky or super casual while mostly friends who did was probably a help in that I knew I had to figure out what I wanted.

Considering federating with the mastodon cloud with a single-user instance and what that would look like, to both me and to the rest of the instances, and the public world.

This article by Katelyn Burns makes me think that I might not have the kind of friends who will actually tell me "hey, you need to maybe not dress like you're 25 when you're 10 years older"

I have great friends but possibly they're too much on the "wear what you fucking want" side. Essentially no one I know cares as much as me about how I blend in, and a lot of them purposefully go the other direction.

At the same time, I view a lot of the places of people I'd have to have to be in to achieve those goals as super toxic.

@Skiant @pixelpaperyarn I'd love for this to be included as part of the protocol somehow, because that would be extra nifty and adds a level of silent expression that is very big.

Being able to react with meaning without actually speaking is a really big social thing that is mostly missing from internet communication! Nonverbals are a huge part of human interaction.

@Archadia these people work with me, every day, for years. They know me, and (hopefully) respect me. I don't think they're doing it on purpose but I do think they are not seeing me as a woman.

It's difficult because calling out the behavior has as much of a chance of backfiring and making them _more_ aware. Visibility is very much working against me here.

A huge part of me wishes I was brought up to believe that being queer was not a curse, and that I had tried it out more when I was young.

In a strange turn of events, I was testing some things wrong earlier today and then a magic switch flipped and stuff started working.

I got into the happy place where I get to make code a lot better and actually accomplish my goals at the same time. I'm really happy that things are getting better quickly.

When I get to be the person making things better for a lot of people at once that is what makes me the happiest. I'm going to double-down on making stuff better tomorrow.

@Eve I personally hate people who say that. It's so often used as a dismissal of the real psychological pain that trans people are going through.

I have a gender, it's real, and I need to be in it now. If they think gender is so not meaningful, then it won't cost them anything to treat me as the correct one.

Even if it would be better if we were all free from gender roles, telling a drowning person to learn to swim is not helping.
