tootdon should not be allowed to be a corporate sponsor listed on joinmastodon.org if they’re going to continue to not inherit content warnings on replies
like basically they’re paying for an advertisement for a broken-by-design app
(but I’m also not the one getting their money so this is an extremely hot take)
@iliana This not inherenting cws seems to be almost exclusively happening to apps by Japanese devs. Kurotodon doesn't inherit cws either, which is really frustrating.
Wonder if there's a reason? Is the Japanese side of mastodon just not that big on CWs?
they can do that, fine. I don't care. I don't think they should be allowed to, essentially, advertise their app on joinmastodon.org if it has a critical usability issue like that.
but I'd be happier if it were at least a setting in the app, right? even if it was off by default? at least I could tell people "hey turn on that setting" instead of "hey don't use what is clearly the best app in every way except for a critical flaw, relative to the policies of instances you interact with the most"
@iliana Oh yea I absolutely think inheriting cws should be a thing, or at least an option. I use kurotodon on desktop which also has that problem and it frustrates me to no end.
I'm personally just wondering there's a reason behind it. The Japanese side of the internet is rather closed off due to a language barrier and has an entirely different culture than our side, after all.
Suggesting features to a dev becomes a bit difficult too at that point.
