you ever think “hmm I really need a spare thinkpad for something” and then find one perched up against the wall
one of these years I'm going to have a battlestation that has thinkpads on floating docking stations above my monitors

in this case I need a machine I can boot offline to set up a new GPG yubikey
usually my use case is “I need a temporary machine but it has to be bare metal”
@iliana Ooh. This makes a lot of sense.I didn't think about the offline security needs, I'm always thinking in terms of like Rasp Pis these days!
@eden mm, yeah. normally I want something a little faster than a raspi, and I've also stopped holding onto extra displays, so a machine with a built-in display and battery always seems to fit the bill ^_^;
