If the -j option is given without an argument, make will not limit the number of jobs that can run simultaneously.
oops
oh good jobs are getting oomkilled 🔥
@iliana .... "oops"
@iliana ( although, like,.... also i've done this more often than i'd like to admit. v_v )
I gave up and rebooted
@iliana ah, that foot gun lives on like `killall` on solaris and `pkill -v <pid>`
@r4v5 the footgun wouldn't be so bad if I didn't bother making a swap partition
which I now no longer have
@iliana why can’t i just buy an ultrabook with 96 gigs, anyway
@iliana reminds me of the hosting company that turned off swap on their default images because their disks were so slow that any vm that touched swap became a noisy neighbor and tanked the hypervisor
@iliana ......... oops.
