These night sweats are killing me. I really hope my endocrinologist can help me sort them out.

@Dimduning that's weird. Is the cause HRT for sure?

@Eve It's a common symptom of low estrogen and/or testosterone, it started at the same time as HRT & improved when I switched to injections. But no, can't be sure, could be lymphoma. 😵(Very unlikely, though! 🙂)

@Dimduning oh I had no idea, I just started with injections as I guess is standard here. I hope it's just a HRT thing though!!!! 🙏🙏🙏

@Eve Transdermal administration of estrogen is more common here, but that didn't work very well for me, the patches just kept coming off.

I'm not that worried about it being something serious, it's just very annoying. 😕

@Dimduning not serious is good but annoying is bad. I hope the doctor can clear it up.

@Eve I hope so! We'll see, I'm seeing him tomorrow for 6 month follow-up (technically closer to 8, but who's counting? 😉) and also follow-up testing related to a pretty fascinating fMRI-study on body perception in trans ppl that I participated in.

@Dimduning @Eve That's interesting about the nightsweats. And also the fMRI study. My campus does a ton of those and tcdms (aka BIG FUCKEN MAGNET ON UR HEAD) experiments, and there's recruiting posters for them and when I see them I'm always thinking, "when he says he's interested in women for this one, does he mean cisgender? probably. shouldn't waste the professor's time."

@ikea_femme @Eve Haven't heard the acronym tcdms - is it the same as transcranial magnetic stimulation? That's another really fascinating area of research.

I gotta get back into academia, to much exciting stuff out there that hasn't reached clinical practice yet.

But yeah, unless they specifically target trans women, we're probably bound to be excluded from pretty much every kind of study. 🙁

@Dimduning @Eve Yeah, that's it. I'm curious where they go with it, even though I, a humble computer science undergrad, have no idea how brains or magnets work.

I mean, I just took a whole course on electricity and magnetism and the entire takeaway I got was "It's hard, be nice to electrical engineers."
