@Maenad I've actually done pretty well on that metric, to my great surprise - my first girlfriend is in a production of the vagina monologues today, another is a lawyer for capital cases... damn, i have to think back, there has to be a reactionary or something in there somewhere...

@gzt my female ex-parnters are mostly A++, my male exes are mostly terrible with a smattering of "sweet but unremarkable"

@gzt eh, no, have faith in people you trust and respect to also have good taste in who they trust and respect :)

@gzt I will say I get a lot of neutral to negative feels about academia sometimes because I go "BUT THIS PERSON'S DONE SO MUCH AND HWAT HAVE I DONE?!?!?" and the answer is "studied real hard to be a better/more interesting person"
