I feel like this is common enough that it has a name.

Is there a word for the dynamic where there's some idiot spouting, politely, something almost fascist and that really ought to be removed by moderators but it's POLITE, and then there are of course responses from people who recognize the FASCISM, but maybe they're not entirely polite. And the moderators shut it down and blame both parties for starting a dumpster fire?
