Short story here is that my wife may simply not be coming to church for the near future because she just can't deal with the stupid trauma of it. I mean we get that they're not affirming etc etc but that's something that can be worked on and hopefully they won't be *rude* about it. But anyway what happened is the priest made a passing snide remark about "identity". And it's like, that wasn't a fair representation of others to make, and even if you were right, if I brought (say) a lesbian friend today they would just be insulted, not edified. So she just decided that it's not worth the mental effort anymore to show up. #religion

@gzt And Greek Orthodox, hm? That ought to interest my counterpart @mona. She (well, her male counterpart) would have maybe preferred an Orthodox church to the Roman when she converted many years ago, but she felt that she would have been out of place in an Orthodox church because they've all got strong ethnic or national identities whereas the Catholic church is, well, catholic. But that was a long time ago now.
