帰省 (kisei) vs 帰郷 (kikyou)
「帰省」というのは「ご両親の安否を問いに帰える」ですが「帰郷」というのは「育った所に遊びに行く」です。
In Japanese, there are different words/characters for (1) going "home" to a place where your parents still live and taking care of them「帰省」, and going home to a place where your parents may not be but you are going to have fun/see friends, etc. 「帰郷」
