[guerrilla defunct] @guerrillarain@witches.town

@swordjaw I found that!! I was just researching. How odd.

@guerrillarain Not for Silicon Valley it isn't.

If it isn't the new shiny, it doesn't exist, and if it continues to exist despite their wishing it doesn't, it's inherently bad.

@JordiGH oh no, I meant that Mastodon hasn't gone anyway haha

this is in an article talking about how vero may fail like mastodon did, but mastodon hasn't failed lol

(clarification to this toot: I'm not saying that there aren't other sites that have come and gone as Masto, I'm saying that Masto hasn't "gone" anywhere.)

@guerrillarain @gargron The sad thing is we tend to use metaphor and analogy to describe things to other people. Just try to explain something like Mastodon without mentioning another social media network. It's difficult.

But we'll know we've arrived when folks say things like "It's like Mastodon but not as good." 😁

are people aware that social media sites don't just die because they themselves stop using them? object permanence is a thing, ya know.

@Gargron I don't think people are capable of understand that this isn't the "open-sourced version of Twitter"

which is why they always come here and get disappointed

lmao researching this and I see "we've seen other social media sites like ... Mastodon come and go"

but have we tho????

RT @BarstoolNate@twitter.com: Never forget how funny the transcripts from Martin Shkreli's jury selection were

@chosafine I don't put anything and say "Available upon request", at which point I harass my friends and family into doing it for me.

Théorie : Marvel en a après moi et va tuer mes favs de façon "permanente"

@guerrillarain it's the simplest possible distillation of "question authority". Which is pretty popular rn.

@guerrillarain my guess is the global rise in antisemitism, because flat earthers believe science is a Jewish conspiracy, and antisemitic conspiracy theories are gaining followers

@guerrillarain They don't want to face the consequences of their actions. Instead of talking about the very real issues going on they are talking bullshit.

What's with the resurgence of people arguing that the earth is flat?

@JordiGH Not sure, since this is the first that explicitly deals with the African continent.

The whole idea is based on DNA markers that are common in X community, I believe, so I would hope no one takes it as 100% accurate that they are 3% Chinese or something.

There is a black-owned, detailed ancestry kit company for the African continent.
