my client refuses to use oxford commas and actually makes me change it back when i use them

omg i am literally working with satan

@aka2 That happened to me as a kid--playing flute irritated my mother so much because it was loud and high-pitched and sometimes just grating on the nerves when you're trying to practice/figure things out. Hearing that kind of feedback as a kid can be tough. I moved to practicing in the garage.

@shoutcacophony @guerrillarain
omg the son of a friend loved his violine too much but after scraping it for three good years they forced him to stop. they couldn't bear it a single day longer. I felt so sorry because the boy was all along really enthusiastic and maybe some time later he would have stopped scraping.

all of my white friends when they come back from seeing Black Panther:

I feel like Black women really what made it good.

I'm so proud. I've taught them so well.

@meena the damage is already done, it's all uphill from here!!!

last last last toot about music things (for now lmao) BUT I am probably going to record myself playing so would anyone be interested in seeing those videos?

me: *complains about a sheet of music because there is nowhere to breathe*

also me: *melts inside because this is fun anyway*

honey: was learning to play bass guitar hard?

me: my fingertips were bruised purple and then they calloused so that wasn't fun

honey:

me: *lists 9 million more reasons about the benefits of music and instruments*

@guerrillarain

"How to play violin: you scrape until you're not scraping anymore.

possible success indicators include: "that sounded nice", declining probability of abruptly closed doors and "I'm trying to support you here, but""

@kara I 100% interpreted this as Shakespeare covertly talking about sex.

@guerrillarain

HAMLET: I do not well understand that. Will you play upon
this pipe?

GUILDENSTERN: My lord, I cannot.

HAMLET: I pray you.

GUILDENSTERN: Believe me, I cannot.

HAMLET: I do beseech you.

GUILDENSTERN: I know no touch of it, my lord.

HAMLET: 'Tis as easy as lying: govern these ventages with your fingers and thumb, give it breath with your mouth, and it will discourse most eloquent music.
Look you, these are the stops.

honey: what is the kit for

me: my pads are ruined so it's leaking air

him: but you don't cover all of the holes all the time. there are 16 holes but you only have 10 fingers.

me: science

lmao and as I was explaining what the repair kit was for, honey asked if I could teach him how to play my flute

and he's like

"so how does it work"

idk you cover some holes, blow in there, play with air pressure and pretty noise comes out eventually

Give me any concentration in the world and I could make a connection to the benefits of music lessons.

honey: I would teach them more about computers and programming

me: *recites statistics about the links between playing music, concentration, logic problems, and math*
