So, uh, writer fam:
How do I finish things? How do I make time after my part time job? How do I get the passion and enthusiasm to cover up the exhaustion? How do I write past the lack of feedback?
Starting is so easy. Carrying it to completion is the real challenge.
Sincerely,
I have about 120 unfinished novels/versions out there from over 13 years of writing
@guerrillarain I have a short list of creative self-help/planning books that I usually recommend -- have I shared them with you? (I don't recall tbh)
@shoutcacophony If it's not too much of a bother, please do!
@guerrillarain Not at all! one sec

@guerrillarain Have you ever done morning pages? http://juliacameronlive.com/basic-tools/morning-pages/ It was the biggest take-away I got out of reading Artist's Way.
Also, her book about the writing life helped me a lot http://juliacameronlive.com/books-by-julia/the-right-to-write/ especially around how to juggle having a writing practice and a busy life outside of writing at the same time
@shoutcacophony you are a blessing truly
@guerrillarain Glad to help, seriously. I know what it's like to be "wth, I'm writing and trying here, but something is missing". It's not like there's a guidebook, you know?
Carol Lloyd's book in particular helped me develop a practice, which then led to being able to finish books.
Having a community of writers did as well. Poets especially -- open mics, slams.
@guerrillarain sometimes having a writing buddy helps? its like 90% of the reason ive gotten most of my writing done in the past year/workshops, knowing having anything to show when it came time for meet up really helped keep me accountable and it gave me space to really make blegh drafts cause I trust my people a lot and know they trust me w their work too. still moving slow w my writing, but it keeps me from staying stuck
I work full time idk why that says part time.
