When you're in a room full of people gushing about how much they love their jobs and having a buddy in the company made all the difference but everyone is passively pushing me out...
And taking credit for your work while cutting you out of that conversation
Also the same lady who called my boss to scold me about how I smile and talk too aggressively and act threatening (while coincidentally the only black person in the room) is also in charge of the buddy list I signed up for. I didn't get a buddy and I thought maybe not enough people signed up but everyone else in the room sure as hell had a buddy
@guerrillarain and y'know it's extra shitty b/c it's like "well shit did she *ACTUALLY* forget or is it b/c im black" and you always wanna think the former, even tho people arent ANYWHERE near that dumb, consistently.
Like i have a manager that CLEARLY treats me differently than any of the other 3 devs here. Ive also been here longer, but you would figure people dont garner more disrespect the longer they're here (that's TYPICALLY not the case anywhere).
@guerrillarain i learned that white people will treat me differently even if they're not aware they're doing it.
@somarasu Ugh, the shittiest part is all the gaslighting of "are you SURE it wasn't just an accident?" "maybe they made a mistake" like I'm not already trying to give people the benefit of the doubt even if they clearly don't want it.
@guerrillarain AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG i *fucking* hate that.
that's like that fucking Obi-Wan wave
"you dont see any racism here~"
@guerrillarain and ofc it's gonna be the ONLY time they make THAT particular mistake.
@somarasu @guerrillarain *ridiculously appropriate and well timed group hug*
@guerrillarain oh, that white [REDACTED]
