[guerrilla defunct] @guerrillarain

what the FUCK is a libertarian socialist? (I took that 8values thing on Github and those were my results????? I don't even like libertarians)

@guerrillarain basically a group collection for anything on the far left side such as anarchism, socialsm, etc)… not in my own words: infoshop.org/AnarchistFAQSecti theanarchistlibrary.org/librar

@guerrillarain I think the titles it comes up with are on two separate axes - that would be as opposed to an "authoritarian socialist" on the other end.

I don't think it means capital-L libertarian in the American sense of Austrian economics and smoking weed

@guerrillarain i cant read 'libertarian' without my brain wanting it to be 'librarian'

but on-topic: i have no fuckin' idea; they sound like they would conflict b/c all the self-proclaimed libertarians i know are strong, independent men who dont need no government. According to them.

and isnt Socialism down with a government, but one that doesnt suck?

idk i went to public school, sorry for my ignorance.

@somarasu judging from replies, it doesn't mean libertarian in the american context or republicans who want to smoke week, but more anti-authoritarian but still communist which makes more sense.

@guerrillarain it's much closer to anarchism than libertarianism, but i don't know a precise definition

@guerrillarain got the same thing. they're just using "libertarian" as a label for people who believe in personal freedoms, which is very suspicious given how it clashes with Libertarians in north america.

@nergdron @guerrillarain I'm pretty sure the libertarian socialists came first. The right then later tried to appropriate libertarian for their own use. :/

@Angle @guerrillarain yep, that's how it goes alright. but it does mean it's not a great term to use these days, since the new usage is the primary one people associate with the word.

@nergdron @guerrillarain Eh, I think the socialist part is enough to clue people in that we're not talking about the same thing. :/

@guerrillarain i dont know about that test but basically anarchist communism
