@pnathan @guerrillarain @nergdron The curse of outsourcing means that most entry-level jobs are now being done either by automation or by people overseas because those skills could be outsourced. Now there aren't enough people here doing them to get the experience needed to do the senior work, so that gets outsourced to H1-B visas and more automation.

i wonder though if that means that a person stands a good chance of getting laid off before 5 years on the job, which is still apparently entry level experience.

Yeah they do, and that is the problem.
When you begin asking for experience for something entry level there are concerns with the work environment and how demanding it is. Which is most jobs at this point.
