@TheMirai the short version is that everything has been steadily going downhill since they rebranded as Fandom. the long version is a slideshow of every update they've made since then with bulletpoints about how each one has made the site less user-friendly, set to a background track of my exasperated sigh

@gravezwave from what I hear it will not get any better because wikia has a million middle and upper management guys that's all idiots and frat guys hiring their friends.

@TheMirai not surprising. that seems to be how a lot of these websites end up, and then it's a feedback loop of them making unnecessary updates and slapping each other on the back while the actual users get shafted.

@TheMirai my biggest actual peeves are the unnecessary layout changes, this "insights" suggestion box on the side which is not useful at all and can't be removed, and the clickbait-y sidebar full of fandom articles that are most likely completely unrelated to the actual content of your wiki

@gravezwave what's hilarious is wikia owns fandom and links all those articles but fandom's articles are the most "oh my god epic win!!!" garbage because every writer there is given nothing to try or branch out with (again, henry gilbert and bob mackey talked about this on a laser time show recently)

@gravezwave so I expect that every idiot there will ruin that company and wonder "What happened?!" then go off to ruin other companies while the wikia brand burns to the ground

@TheMirai the wiki that I'm most active on has been looking to jump ship for a while, but we haven't been able to find a viable alternative. honestly the ideal would actually be "wikia but ~3 years ago, before all this garbage".

@gravezwave now would be a good time for someone who is in the know to start a wiki hub like wikia, because lord knows that ship is steering into the ocean.
