My strongest longing for physiological change is to have a womb, to give birth to a child. I suppose it's why I don't bother with things like lasers—which largely appeal bc lasers—though I like my hairy bod bc furry.
It's a difficult longing to articulate, to carry a child between your hips. I think it's why my health problems, why doctors can't nail what's wrong—the pain is where my womb should be, the cramps are in my phantom ovaries. There's no cure for this.

Software is for people, not computers. This is why Perl ousted C twenty years ago—silicon was cheap and people were expensive, optimizing for people made sense. Software should be easy on the developer and easy on the user. If you care more about how easy it is on the machine your priorities are broken.

I've been in ux for decades. There have been literally two even remotely successful attempts ever at the cross platform gui dev thing. It's just a hard problem. The first was tcl/tk and starkits were one of the reasons—you distributed the whole of tcl and tk bundled into your app. Sound familiar? Yes, electron is the other. Every criticism of electron is unfounded because the comparison is literally nothing. It solves a truly hard problem. This is an incredible breakthrough and to be celebrated.

This is a false binary. Sometimes it's the fault of the problem space for being hard.

I'm in constant physical pain, there's an easy way to make it stop; but that way I lose everything

it's easier for them to be assholes, that doesn't make it a good choice

@Concerned_Commy a spoonful of sugar—tell them which of their behaviours actually help as well as which hurt (even if really they're all one and not the other)
that way you're handing them a positive vision of themselves they can then live up to

@Concerned_Commy mostly people want to do the right thing but want it to be easy; if you make them feel like they're responsible for your suffering they won't like that (even if it's true) so if you want to change their behaviour towards you the hack is to give them a way to feel good about it
