Apparently the latest counter-extremism effort began in 2014 with a fake letter claiming a plot by "Muslim extremists" to infiltrate school teaching and governance. (Interestingly, the schools supposedly infiltrated had mostly received unexpectedly good ratings in a recent assessment.)

What I need to do, I think, is to find a way to symbolically separate Crow-the-archetype from Hughes and his poetry so I can keep what's important to me - I guess in some kind of ritual or working.
It's harder than it sounds, though, because I need to decide what relationship I'm symbolically severing and my idea of Crow is too self-sufficient for the obvious ones.

Still kind of bummed to learn Ted Hughes was a violent abuser, because the Crow poems were important to me for a very long time. But now I know what Hughes was I can't read them the same way. The portrait of a fuckup Trickster/survivor is just a mask Hughes created to hide what he really was.

Watching a contented ginger cat in the garden and now I'm starting to want a cat again, dammit.
Someone please remind me about vomit and dead mice and live small birds and not being able to leave food out and... :-/

UPDATE: it's "Winter Voices", which is a poor execution of a really really good idea. This review is, if anything, too kind to it - but it's still a fascinating game that I wish designers would start borrowing from.

(What was the name of the French strategy game for PC where the "fights" were with your negative emotions and your combat skills were your coping mechanisms?)

Idea: Civ-style game but the tech tree is 90% social technologies. Start with one of "teamwork", "kinship groups", "ritual competition" and work your way up from there. All the usual architecture, agriculture, and military stuff has a single minor development path and/or unlocks automatically. #gameing

Also nice that they've got a modern-built shrine to the nymphs down by the river. Seems respectful and appropriate.

There's lots of great stuff in the Vindolanda museum (Roman shoes! The famous writing tablets!) but none of it photographs well. But it's cute that the gift shop sells a package of socks and underwear, as requested in one of the letters.
