@firecoals Good luck!
@firecoals Okay... nothing at SOAS right now, but here’s the site:
https://jobs.soas.ac.uk/fe/tpl_soasnet01.asp?newms=srs
UCL have a few admin assistant and similar posts, though the pay’s not great:
https://atsv7.wcn.co.uk/search_engine/jobs.cgi
And Queen Mary have an Admissions Administrator post that looks worth a punt:
https://webapps2.is.qmul.ac.uk/jobs/jobs.action
(These are all places I’ve worked, though that’s not necessarily a recommendation.)
@firecoals No problem at all - though I’m afraid I can’t do a lot. I’m just a lowly IT person.
@firecoals I’ll keep an eye out - at the very least, I can find you some links to job listings.
@firecoals Some parts of SOAS have a pretty fast turnover of admin staff, but there are reasons for that. What kind of thing are you looking for?
@hollyamory It absolutely is. And you deserve one for achieving so much.
@Azure Absolutely agreed. We need better accountability in general. What I’m suspicious of is the assumption that sometimes surfaces that we should all be hobbyist programmers administering our own systems and data.
for femme presenting people, how much make up would you were to go to a job agency? what would you were? #transgirl #jobhunting

@lambdagrrl Yes. I did a quick search and found a surprisingly good post-mortem here:

@lambdagrrl I’m up for it. Sussex had a pop-up Union a few years back. That might make a good starting point.

@lambdagrrl Same, but I’m starting to realise there’s a major split inside UCU and I don’t really like or trust either faction.
@lambdagrrl What do you think of the current proposed settlement?

@firecoals Oh no :-( Sorry to hear it.
An odd thing I’ve noticed is that I’m starting to find physical books harder to read. The physicality of the page feels intrusive and my eyes have got used to scrolling.
@Andrea Definitely going with RELEASE THE DOWNASAUR the next time I do scheduled patching.
In the saddest sign of gentrification yet, this “salivating cat” mural opposite the fish stall in the covered market has been replaced by a sign for a hipster taco joint.

@Azure This is true, but it’s also true that pushing risk back on to users is as bad an idea in technology as it is in finance.
