@MariBari Actually, now I re-read it I see they talk about Japanophilia and (implicitly) white supremacy, too. Which is pretty good for something written in 2012.

@MariBari Do you know “Postmodern Geekdom as Simulated Ethnicity”? It’s probably the most comprehensive take on the whole “geeks are a minority” thing.

@snoothy (I have trouble calibrating praise, so to put it another way.. You’re good at writing and you should consider sharing what you write more often.)

@snoothy That’s pretty successful. Sweet story, and the writing is good.

@hollyamory I can’t think of any British accents that would put a long “a” in avocado, but there are so many to choose from. I’m pretty sure “arvo” is Australian, though.

@kara Those are pretty compelling reasons, tbh.

@kara I’m pretty interested in Gender Takes if you ever feel like it.

@Murkrow Thanks. It also means I don’t have to feel guilty for not joining the picket line today.

Starting to get over this cold, but a ten minute walk to the Turkish supermarket and back was still enough to wipe me out.

Remember when America successfully turned hippies into a laughable subculture of stoned dopes bc they were protesting the entirely unnecessary deaths of their brothers, friends, and classmates and thousands of Vietnamese people, and then continued making that joke for 50 years

A friend of mine used the term 'call in' earlier. As in when you call someone out on bad behaviour in a gentle way that invites discussion. I'd not heard it before but I enjoyed it's existence. #behindthetimes

If my sinuses would unblock and my head would stop hurting, that would be lovely. Failing that, it would be nice if I could just sleep through this bit of the cold and wake up when it’s going.
