@dconley If it helps, she's on Bandcamp now so you can follow her and get a notification next time.
What to do if you see antisocial benchs that are supposed to don't let people lay down to rest in order to increase gentrification?
Repair them!
Still picking my way through a collection of Susan Sontag's essays and reviews; still finding her ideas of what art is and how it ought to work very alien.
Massive respect to her for managing to write a genuinely insightful review of Marat/Sade while (somehow) maintaining it's not a play about ideas, though.

@Sasha Rest of the world: "Actually, let's not".
qft :D
@Canageek Well, nominated for a Hugo anyway. Though some of us think he deserved to win.
@Canageek But not treating your audience as a boys’ club for whom alone the entire field of video games exists will maybe make them less entitled and toxic.
@Murkrow And especially the lycra-clad City wankers who used to zoom up behind me on the towpath when I worked by the Regents Canal.
@NattyGov Oh dear. Much sympathy.
At the optician, waiting for my appointment. Elderly gentleman getting new glasses, made a big stink about how he shouldn't pay for them because the ones from 2 years ago broke -- receptionist patiently explained a few times about new prescription, then got the message and discreetly had him sign forms for NHS vouchers. He didn't want to admit, in front of other patients, that he couldn't pay.
Why do we make people pay for eyesight at all? Why aren't glasses free, for everyone?
@elecray7k I only read one issue that I picked up cheap somewhere, I’m afraid. I was in my mid-twenties so my mind wasn’t so easily blown - though it was unfair of me to be disappointed that it wasn’t the comic I imagined it was. Did it get mystical, then?
@elecray7k Were you as disappointed as I was that it had a silly anime-ish plot and wasn’t actually Hill Street Blues under water?
The greatest lie we've been told as Americans is that we have to sacrifice our happiness for the greater good. And it's pure bullshit.
Never, ever sacrifice your well being and happiness for anyone. The world does not need your suffering to make it better. There is nothing noble about short changing yourself.
The idea of self care is a simple one, but it's revolutionary because are taught to take pride in suffering.
And that's nonsense, man. Be happy. Be fulfilled. Be you.
Had to cancel tonight’s tabletop RPG so I’ve booked myself a Pilates class instead. It’ll be interesting to try a different instructor.
