Modernist manuals of writing often conflate story with conflict. This reductionism reflects a culture that inflates aggression and competition while cultivating ignorance of other behavioral options. No narrative of any complexity can be built on or reduced to a single element. Conflict is one kind of behavior. @thatdelphox A loose attachment to a mix Greek and Roman goddesses. (“By whatever name you wish to be called” is a common formula in Roman prayer so I figure it’s OK to mix names.) No single matron - I prefer to make vows to be fulfilled when a prayer is answered, Roman-style.
(I used to consider Crow from Ted Hughes’ poems a kind of patron, but I gave that up when I learned more of what Hughes was like.)
