You're my favorite kind of linguistics because you can fight linguistic discrimination but these essays I have to read are so damn racist.
Lots of "this data is split by geography, age, gender, class, etc....and then, here's half a sentence about what African Americans do!" Oh, so all that other stuff I just read was about /white/ Americans? And you didn't even tell me?
And this keeps happening.
@ghost_bird Some of the data it's quoting is older, but this essay was written in 2015 so it shouldn't be talking like that. If it's all white people, say so. If it's an outdated idea of gender from forty years ago, say so? I don't think that's too much to ask?
