Still kind of bummed to learn Ted Hughes was a violent abuser, because the Crow poems were important to me for a very long time. But now I know what Hughes was I can't read them the same way. The portrait of a fuckup Trickster/survivor is just a mask Hughes created to hide what he really was.

What I need to do, I think, is to find a way to symbolically separate Crow-the-archetype from Hughes and his poetry so I can keep what's important to me - I guess in some kind of ritual or working. It's harder than it sounds, though, because I need to decide what relationship I'm symbolically severing and my idea of Crow is too self-sufficient for the obvious ones.
