(I'm particularly thinking of the tendency for stories to echo Protestant conversion narratives rather than, say, the cautionary tales of divine intervention in Classical or Viking culture, but there's also the interesting tension between polytheistic and monotheistic ideas of what a god is for.)
@ghost_bird the Protestants really did kind of ruin religion for lots of people; people who aren't even Christian seem to think that all religious belief is about Faith™ and Damascene conversions
