I’ve long understood Methodology as something that arises from insecurity, but I think I can now see it as a feminist issue. It’s easy for men to get promoted to management with no understanding of emotional labour and, generally, no incentive to learn people skills. Methodology - which attempts to reduce management to an exercise in data flow - is naturally going to be attractive.
