Increasingly 'awareness raising' around mental health or other chronic illness just feels like capitalism getting us to commodify our own suffering. Not all of it by any means, openness and honesty and wisdom sharing is beautiful and healing, but so often we accidentally transmit harmful ablist messages or bandaid medicine that keeps us in the same ruts. I don't really know what I'm trying to say. Someone suggested I make an awareness raising comic but I am so over awareness raising.
