My brother lives with my parents & grandmother. He's emotionally abusive af, regularly manipulative, anger management issues, victim mentality... I could go on. It's scary to be here, because you don't know what kind of mood he's going to be in or what shit he's going to sling at you for no reason.

My parents won't kick him out. Mum refuses to accept that his behaviour is abusive & keeps hand-wringing over the trauma he's causing them. Dad's fed up & would boot him, but Mum. I'm beyond frustrated & right now, given the slamming noises from downstairs, anxious.

Things I have successfully done today:
- left the house!
- checked the mail
- bought actual food, inc. fresh veg
- genuinely smiled at people

I've been on stress leave from my job since 16 Oct. For the most part, this has been a most excellent thing. I need to remember that even "small" accomplishments are wins, because some days leaving the house can make me panic and some days I want to sleep like a cat. So, overall, today was a GOOD DAY so far. Now, I'mma go make chili.
