Reminder: Afficher plus

Next year, on Falkreon irl:
I plan on peeking out of my ivory tower a bit more this spring. If I see my shadow, six more weeks of winter. Sorry, I don't make the rules.

Next year, on Mastofalkreon:

* More memes, jokes, and shitposts
* Obscure technology rants
* Probably a secondary cybre.space account, I need to creep on your local TL because you are cool people
* First (and sometimes only) place I make mod announcements

WHO WOULD WIN: Afficher plus

I hear you like classic ordinal realities, but have you considered: Afficher plus

Let me be clear: I love the keurig too. It's pre-DRM keurig, it was made to be free and fast and full of coffee and that's great.

I went back to ground coffee from prepackaged keurig cups, and I remember why I love coffee so much.

In other news, I'm going to draft another point release of Thermionics and Thermionics|World momentarily here, to reflect numerous bugfixes and improvements which are a *direct* result of all your feedback, so thank you ^_^

"But what can I *do* with all that power?"

Septuagintuple Compressed Compacting Drawer. The world may not yet be ready for such advanced machines.

Please be advised: There is now a modded machine that buffers and requires more energy than a fully upgraded Draconic Core can store: asie.pl/files/mods/Preston/

In case no one has said so or made you feel so today: you are important and you deserve a break.

The other thing I'd like to see a lot more of in 2018? Gay. I believe in all of you, please make it happen.

I'd like to see 2018 be a year where we figure out how to array a lot of cheap parts in large numbers in general. Huge invisibly-segmented screens, GPUs with work-clusters spread over a large diffusion surface, sensors with a hundred million little samplers

Not without some kind of gap between them anyway

I can't wait to see optical phased arrays. Imagine a flat camera where the whole surface is the image sensor. It would effectively be a lightfield camera, so you could refocus it after you took the image, and it would run circles around 100 megapixels. Would require a metamaterial to vary the index of refraction across the surface, and new fab techiques since we can't make one CMOS that large, and can't really connect them in series yet.
