@garbados That's interesting, because coupons and IOUs occasionally *do* turn into minature fiat currencies - - if you measure crypto success by what makes these currencies healthy, crypto is doomed; it doesn't inflate fast enough so people hoard it until it dies, thinking it'll grow in value.

But I like where you're going with a secure ledger to carry coupon fiat currencies. *That's* a crypto I would use.

* The currency doesn't inflate to meet demand like a successful currency has to. In fact, it contracts as the block difficulty goes up.

* Cryptos are terrible for the environment, so even if they were worth something, there should be sanctions

The best analogy I've seen to an already-existing fiscal device is penny stocks. You're not trading on value, you're banking on selling it before the next guy realizes it's worthless.

@TipsyTentacle I have to say "yes, BUT" to this... the voting population and the party insiders are having a bit of a scuffle right now. Democratic voters want planks like universal healthcare, living minimum wage, better mental health and vet services, etc...

I think they're just deeply unconvinced that democratic insiders are really pursuing those things. So there's little enthusiasm in the polls.
