We'll never be able to upload ourselves into machines. It's the teleporter problem phrased differently: If you create an exact copy of the brain, then there are two of you, just as surely as twins are different people the moment they separate.

There *might* be a fix. But it's going to be a difficult one for society to accept because we see life and death as binary states. Start with augments. Let the brain offload something onto computers that computers are good at - say, math. Then offload more. Then more. It's like planting our brains into the machine as seeds which grow into our posthuman selves.
