@starkatt a descriptive specification of the universe gives a ~satisfying explanation for the origin of living beings that behave as though they are conscious and even describe themselves that way, but i get hung up on the gap between that and the actual subjective experience. the external phenomenon is ~explainable but i find myself unable to fully rationalize the subjective sensation.

@starkatt most of the time it's hard to even convey to ppl why i consider it a conundrum :-P

@starkatt that is a shame, the subjective experience of consciousness is one of my favorite metaphysical conundrums 😜

@starkatt ‪...what do they say?‬

oh right, writing music in a cafe that plays music is difficult <_<

@kitsch yes ^^ i'm interested in trying cause it sounds fun, if either of us ever wants to do a larger project with actual goals and expectations we can be more formal, but for now it's just i like indie games and want to see what happens if i nudge myself into a new musical style

@kitsch that works! genres meaning like, 8-bit / chiptune vs electronic vs gamey acoustic, vague instrumentation? i can try something from just this but if you can think of any specific games or tracks that have a rough audio aesthetic you like, that helps

@kitsch sure ^^

(i mean, reiterating i'm time constrained / have a child / etc but it sounds fun to try and i have a bit of free time today :D)

@kitsch my very-non-game original music is at beadysea.bandcamp.com, the guidance i'd need for a demo track would basically be what format and like, examples of the genre / mood you'd want to aim for ^^

@kitsch haha no it's not guilt, i've been looking for an excuse to learn more about game music for ages and i feel less bad inflicting myself on someone who is also figuring it out 😜

@kitsch so like with the disclaimer that i'm very time constrained and kind of flaky and have never done game music (all my recordings have been mostly-acoustic vocal-centric songs), i could try making a track if you like? XD

@kitsch what kind of games are you working on?

FIVE EASY STEPS TO HOME SECURITY
1) Use a deadbolt.
2) Whenever you leave home, leave your shadow behind, pinned to your front door, muttering to itself like you're still home, and as the sun stretches it over the day its extended fingers can scratch the window sills and confirm they're inviolate.
3) 3-5 hours before you head out, stop feeding the Hungry Thing that lives in the eaves. Tell the Hungry Thing that you're never coming back, that it's on its own.
3) Make sure all windows are clasped.
5) Cast a spell so that filthy thieves can't see the number 3 and instead see a 3 in its place.

A-ha. I've found you out. You read this post & I see you, thief.
