So sad for the Mission District, used to be a centre of working class Latinx culture and now it's the second most expensive neighbourhood in the city. And the new residents are upper class white techies, who call the cops on the locals, who support anti homeless laws though they made those people homeless.
Also for context, one of the best funded 'housing activists' (who advocates for building of luxury condos and trickle down housing) has called Latino people who want to keep their homes and maintain the culture of their neighbourhood, "exactly the same as Trump supporters". And of course, the libertarian techies just love that comparison.

Watching the Trevor Noah garbage about the antifa. For one is that really how people ever say it "an-tifa"? Secondly he is doing what all the mainstream liberal media is doing: acting as if antifa is a "movement" with a unified goal, which has centralized leadership, and that one antifa individual is somehow responsible for the actions of another. I think the intent behind this misinformation is to increase the justification of surviellance, and the use of militarized "anti-terror" policing against the people who are the biggest threat to the racist, capitalist, and conservative 'law and order'.
So Reddit becomes closed source, but they explain they « will continue to open source tools that are of use to engineers everywhere ».
It's nice and all, but this is obviously a shitty capitalist move. Why? Because this kind of company always open source scraps. In the FOSS world we call that "coopetition", a shared effort to improve components that are not competitively strategic (for instance, no one really compete on the Linux level).
Of course, from a capitalist POV, this is really beneficial.
But as anti-capitalists, maybe we should reflect on how FOSS has been a kind of free lunch for capitalism and silicon valley especially.
I feel FOSS has become a common, shared, constant capital that everyone can benefit from. However, capital makes a very big difference in how you can leverage such shared thing.
Is it time to build anti-capitalist FOSS? Something that capitalists couldn't benefit from?

Wär cool, wenn noch ein paar Leute, deren Pronomen nicht "er" ist, kommentieren könnten, welche Lösung ihnen am liebsten wäre 💜

I opened up an issue on the Mastodon Github, to get rid of the "*neural* masculine" used in the German translation of Mastodon. I know its something important to many people, but I would be glad if people would comment on the Github issue what type of language should be used. I am a fan of the "-er_in" suffix and using a gender neutral pronoun like "xier", but I would like the discussion to include what other trans and non-binary people would like to see.
