Casual racism in the Berlin queer scene is the norm, and it needs to be dealt with. Sorry, fellow white people, it's going to feel uncomfortable to be called out on these mistakes. But the cost of our discomfort is worth the empowerment of the people who we have kept subjugated to our benefit for generations. Dealing with racism in Germany is fucking hard, in a big part due to some idea that most 'progressive' Germans 'don't see colour'. The norm is toxic and we need to unlearn and relearn how to support POC.
