Ooh, I decided to get a curiouscat.

Feel free to ask/tell me stuff! :)
If schrodinger taught us anything, it's that reductio ad absurdum isn't a real fallacy.
Basic self care: you can turn off the news when you need to.
Every company: hey you like the news? We put news update on your homepage, search page, virtual assistant, email, lock screen, refrigerator, dog,
okay, so I'm done. apparently had a lot more anger about that than I thought I did.
The internet needs to actually move forward into clear categories of
"This is reasonable to track"
and
'This should be fucking illegal to track"
If you track id through canvas fingerprinting, that should be illegal.
If you use evercookie, that should be illegal.
If you form global user ids through multiple user devices without user awareness, that should be illegal.
>"but I need it to work out ROI"
Encourage users to log in to your website throughout sessions, and inform them. Improve your experience instead of piggybacking off someone elses.
Second reply:
"They'd be in breach of data requirements if they did!"
And in around April of 2018 they would be, and I am going to fucking love watching the new EU directive come in and see where website trackers are going to get hammered legally for this kind of thing.
But at the moment the regulations are pretty much nothing.
Possible reply:
"They don't track certain fields, like debit card numbers!"
Yeah, but only by the setup of the analytics consultant, it's nothing to do with *can't*, it's just *don't usually*.
Like there are buttloads of webapps that are basically privacy-invading by feel alone.
I don't give a shit if a tracker is effectively writing down URLs I've visited, because that's helpful to identify the path through the website, and it's kinda _expected_.
Like if you go out into a mall, you could expect them to maybe track how many people come through the door to each shop.
Ones like hotjar and luckorange bother me unduly. Keeping a record of *unsubmitted form fills* and mouse movements is a little bit too much to me.
Selling this data isn't possible for a normal website.
The reason Facebook and Google did it is because you're basically permanently signed into both on mobile devices, and their apps provide sufficient information to identify *all* of your devices and join it into a single identifier.
This is known as cross-device matching. And Amazon have that capability. And Amazon are behind in the search-tech market quite a lot.
So their offering has to be better, but also probably won't beat it by tech offerings alone.
I'm going to be unclear about some of this intentionally to be in line with what's been reported by Digiday, and not speculate too much based on what is likely from this.
Amazon recently upped their advertising offering for banner campaigns, and are selling customer match data to advertisers within their self-service platform.
You can target Amazon customers on and off Amazon by demographic and by importing user data through hashed email lists. This is relatively common throughout Display advertisers, but represents a big step up for Amazon to match Google and Facebook in targeting options across Display networks.
@kara (context: NITW vids) your cop anger gives me strength
I'm so glad I don't work in camming, because the amount of days I'm in a hoodie looking scruffy is way too freakin' high.
>considers doing lewd photos
>orders pizza
>sits in bed, eating pizza
I'm okay with my life choices.
So my housemate was with her boyfriend.
And she asked for orange juice.
He didn't have any orange juice, but he had oranges.
So he tried to blend them. And they, pulp and all, did not. It wouldn't pour. It was a block. So he decided to sieve it.
He broke the handle off the sieve, but found out the glass was the same size as the sieve. So he put the sieve in the glass, and pushed down. Which made the 'liquid' rise. And pour everywhere.
And he stopped and eventually just went to the shops.
What I've learnt from two episodes of Joy of Painting:
*Everyone needs, and deserves, a friend
*Don't think too much, just do it
*Tell yourself you're good, especially when you feel like you aren't
I needed to hear these, maybe you did, too
(Like don't get me wrong, I love sql. But I'm working on a huge lambda function that is a little bit too much for a Friday arvo :'))
Could finish this project, could go home and lewdpost.
Not even close, fuck SQLlllll
