a confessional:
i hate saying the letter S. i hate how it feels. sentences with a bunch of Ss's'es in them? can't stand that shit no sir
My housemate's work has started enforcing pronouns in email signatures, regardless of gender.
I honestly wish my work would get on board, that sounds so helpful! And like would stop emails where I'm listed as she unnecessarily, because people could just look at my signature and stuff. :)
reminder: "sup nerds" is gender neutral
Reminder that I'm still using https://curiouscat.me/EdensAesthetic and I am _super_ freaking bored tonight.
PSA for people who #code:
Looking stuff up does NOT make you bad at coding.
"Not having to look up stuff" is NOT the benchmark for a good coder, especially as coders have to look up stuff ALL THE TIME!
And I don't mean highly advanced stuff, but stuff like "How does division work again?" or "What's that function called?" or my personal favorite "How to I nest for loops in list comprehensions?".
It's ok if you have to look up stuff!
my theory on gender? oh. uh, it's two in the morning and you're running from the cops. you get in one car but the helicopter sees you. there's, uh, there's a tunnel up ahead, so you drive in there and ditch the car. there's hundreds of cars in there but you've gotta pick fast. do you go for the flashy one, or the one that won't pick up attention? you can hear the cops closing in behind you. close your eyes, take a breath, and run. your feet know where to go.
So I tried to login to mixer, and they revealed the regex they're using for username validation, which is kinda bizarre.
""username" with value "Eden (they)" fails to match the required pattern: /^[\w_-]*[A-Za-z][\w_-]*$/i"

If schrodinger taught us anything, it's that reductio ad absurdum isn't a real fallacy.

@kara i'm not crying you're crying.
@SoniEx2 Hahahaha. Right?! That's how ridiculous I feel like it is.
And yet they probably could phrase it in a way that sounds reasonable.
@SoniEx2 I think tracking events like
*User A started form *
*User A submitted form*
is fine, but tracking the actual text isn't.
The issue with allow-all/consent is it's hard to make the user aware of multiple sets of tracking without overloading them with information. We'd end up with the 'We use cookies' boxes times a million.
