This isnt to say that the concept of cryptocurrency itself is bad, its not. However its current state leaves much to be desired.

Nope, just something sufficiently difficult to find relative to the amount of people looking. Good to know that the more power we throw at it, it adapts to take the same length of time.
Apparently miners in China would require free electricity to break even at the current rate, so it's theorised that's what they actually have.
