Hey Witches!
What's the most trivial hill on which you'd be willing to die?
(For people unfamiliar with the phrase - it's just "What opinion do you hold passionately despite it being trivial?")
Because I have incredibly strong views about people who boil broccoli.
@Sylvhem do people say that?! In the UK people still say pain au chocolate exclusively
@edensaesthetic Since the 60's, people in the South-West of France usually say "chocolatine" instead of "pain au chocolat". There is a *huge* debate among people here about which of the two terms is the better ^^. Lot of people our ages troll each other with this.
@edensaesthetic favourable views? 😂
@phessler oh mate :')
@edensaesthetic
i still to this day get mad about the concept of "Mac vs PC"
macs are personal computers! PCs are more than just computers that run windows! I pretty much always know what people mean in context and it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme but I will absolutely die on this hill
@ebeth @edensaesthetic I guess it sort of kind of not really made sense back in the power pc days
@edensaesthetic @ebeth mainly because power was less typical for desktop usage than wintel
@edensaesthetic
* people who wear strong scent to a place people will be eating
* Oxford comma (literal illiteracy)
* more grammar things than I could enumerate actually ...
Isn't boiling things just a weird Britishness?
@gracie it is the worst Britishness, excluding coronation chicken
Okay so my strongest is that whilst is incorrect, we should only use while.
@edensaesthetic whilst that may be your opinion not everyone thinks so
@a_breakin_glass you're a bad person :')
@edensaesthetic I never used whilst in my life!
@edensaesthetic For some reason I thought of whilst as indicating a specifically ordinal concurrency, I guess because first and last are ordinals ... I appear to have entirely imagined this.
@edensaesthetic I think nutella is nauseatingly saccharine goop
@KevinCarson1 so my housemate is actually allergic to chocolate because he loved Nutella so much when he was younger he ate enough for his body to reject it
@edensaesthetic Damn, that's a lot of Nutellla
@edensaesthetic Also Pink Floyd was shit after Gilmour took over -- the real Pink Floyd after that was Roger Waters's solo act.
@edensaesthetic
Past tense "t" versus "ed." Burnt/burned, dreamt/dreamed, etc. The t is proper and the ed makes the writing juvenile.
I was going to say ketchup on eggs but I don't really think that's trivial when the smell makes me nauseated, so.
Apparently I am also dying on the hill of pluralising apostrophes on holiday cards today. Hooray.
@edensaesthetic "Pain au chocolat" is the true term. "Chocolatine" is a neologism.
