A coworker told me today that when he goes home to his family, he takes all his dirty laundry and expects them to cook for him.
He's like 29?!
(Personally don't ever see my family, but that's not normal, right?)
@edensaesthetic couldnt tell ya if it's 'normal' but i instinctively think "what a baby bitch manchild fuckboy"
so maybe not 😂
@somarasu I saw him as really responsible! It totally ruined my impression of him..
@edensaesthetic That's always the worst :\
I was always used to being the responsible one so it's like, i'd always be disappointed by other people.
@edensaesthetic that sounds kinda melodramatic but totes true 😛
@somarasu totally feel this. I used to get really angry with people for not taking initiative and responsibility because it was second nature to me. But I also read that sometimes that's correlated with developmentally unhealthy childhoods so I don't know how positive that streak is for myself

@edensaesthetic it's sorta normal to do laundry and cook together when you visit your family, but I think it's usually because people are allergic to detergents in laundromats and stuff. I do my laundry on my own but my mum's food still absolutely CRUSHES even my best dishes
@amsomniac That's true! The impression I got from him was that he was deliberately bringing dirty clothes, rather than just doing the washing together.
mate, my housemate's parents visit sometimes and when they help with cooking it's like _bae_, homefood is so good.
@edensaesthetic i'm extremely torn between "that's not at all normal" and "wow, men *would* do that"
@edensaesthetic I'm 28 and my mom obsessively does my dishes when she comes over but I cook
@Maenad That's kinda sweet though! I think offering (/with parents it's more like insisting) on cleaning in exchange for cooking is nice :)
@edensaesthetic Laundry? No. While my mom did do my laundry for me when I came home for breaks from college, I have never brought home laundry since I moved out on my own. That strikes me as really childish. And we mostly eat out so she doesn't have to cook.
@edensaesthetic no, it's sadly very normal.
@edensaesthetic That is weird. I was doing my own laundry and meals before high school.
@edensaesthetic
(I don't really ever visit my family either, so I guess that's normal enough)
