Don't you find Whittaker looks like Tennant in some ways?
@ed it's deliberate, the bbc expressly wanted someone like Tennant to revive what they see as a flagging show, given how immensely popular David was; it's no accident that the first thing out of her mouth was his catch phrase (well, one of them)
@gracie It's a bit a bit confusing though, I hope she'll get her very own catchphrases and behaviour.
@gracie It's a real problem ideed, unfortunately they'll keep doing that
@gracie I don't know who Chris Chibnall really is so, I can't say if he got a particular style or whatever
Maybe he is first trying to get far from Moffat?
@ed I find his writing quite derivative so that's a worry, but yes it does look like they're trying to distance it from Steven's vision, new music (new composer) even new photography
@gracie Oh I remember now, he made Torchwood ? Tbh when I learned they bought movies-like camera or stuff like this I was a bit afraid
@ed Torchwood was Russell, Chris wrote Broadchurch which is like a watered down, very English imitation of Nordic noir. The movie cameras do worry me, but we can only wait and see. Maybe we'll love it!
@gracie I didn't know he copied on another show, I'm a bit disappointed now
@ed Nordic crime drama is really popular in Britain but British people are really lazy with subtitles, he was first to cash in on that with a homegrown version
@gracie That was not a terrible show honestly but I din't watch the last season and the second one was a really not that great in my opinion.
@ed that's what worries me, he seems to struggle with original ideas; that's one thing Steven has in buckets, for all the shortcomings in his writing
@ed her accent is a bit 9 as well, it's like they're trying to recapture the RTD era
