The other type of /#terminal programme I need is a look up thing. e.g. I wanna put the ™ character into the clip board.

The 11th AGM of the Foundation will be on 9th Dec 2017! There will be 2 board seats up for election (no candidates yet)

Maybe a good /#CLI calcaultor exists. Send me your . I usually try `bc -l`, but always find myself getting snagged on papercuts

Someone needs to make a decent command line/terminal calculator. Something easy to use. Something with good UI.

alcorithm, n. That code you 'fixed' last night after six straight shots of Jagermeister. It's definitely 100% correct now.

Every time you write code that requires Chrome or CEF or Electron, just remember: you are giving Google control over you and your users.

You are letting them dictate what you can and cannot do. You are letting them view your user's potentially private activities (URLs are always sent to Google without Debian's patch set).

You are becoming a part of their toxic culture, their neocapitalism.

Remember that.

Some folks on birdsite are tagging our project account in tweets like "hey jack twitter should copy this thing mastodon does". The idea that this is merely about features is short-sighted. Twitter will never, ever, ever be your friend. They are the shareholders' friend, not yours. No feature will let you see what their engineers are working on, what's under the hood. No feature will fix their headquarters in the US following and enforcing US laws and customs worldwide.

I might try to write my own chatbot software!

I'm loving . Such a good game. I love it's non-linear aspect. "Oh I'll go do this now, nah, I'll look for this instead"

Thinking about chatbots again. I'd like to make a bot that argues with people online. So I don't have to. 😀

me, a child: cant wait to grow up and be a functioning adult in the real world
me: *turns 20*
world: jokes on you sucker
world: *goes to hell*
me: fuck

When people today complain about things from Tumblr, they are trying to say "This thing is new, and made up! We didn't have this when I was growing up!". But if you can show that LGBTQ people were talking like this in (say) 2002, then that means it's been around much longer.

Theory: Everything bigot's complain about Tumblr could be said about LiveJournal, but 10 yrs earlier. This stuff isn't new!

Since Someone Was Wrong On The Internet™, I did some research and found lots of examples of non binary genders existing years before Tumblr was founded. Stop blaming Tumblr!

Man, whining about "thought crimes" is about as blatant a dogwhistle for "I want to be racist, sexist, homo/transphobic, etc. without consequences" as I can imagine.

Remember, remember, the 5th of November, the gunpowder treason and plot
Which was used to persecute Catholics more than before
And was perpetrated by a man who wanted to install a Catholic theocracy as opposed to the Protestant theocracy that existed at the time

History isn't always rosy and sometimes there are no good guys.

it makes me so so angry to watch a robot be gendered female while trans women have to hear "but BIOLOGY says..."

@ebel Or more generally: cis + hrt = Christ.

I switched to DuckDuckGo (from Google) as a search engine a while ago, and I'm generally pretty happy with it. The quality is good enough.
