I wonder has anyone traced when "western values" started to include rights, or conversely when was opposition to LGBT rights considered part of "Western values".... It was only recently this changed, but how recently....

Every blurb for every startup: "We make DISRUPTIVE and INNOVATIVE technology that happens to perfectly fit into existing social structures and capitalism."

Looks like isn't so great for diversity aspects and still has lots of parts of /harassment culture. Coraline has written about her year working at GitHub

That whole "lol if you grew up in the 80s onwards you were promised a seedy cyberpunk dystopia not anything nice."

a) Optimistic Scifi continued throughout the mainstream media during the peak of the cyberpunk movement.

b) Cyberpunk at its genesis & its core was prophetic, not a 'promise'.

It was "Stop f*ing the world up or this will happen to our kids", not "Hey kids, guess what you've got to look forward to".

I've been rewatching Malcolm in the Middle. It's still pretty funny, and for a slightly older show, it has very few problematic jokes. It shows you can make humour without needing to punch down. They even had a "what if [NAME] is gay" episode which wasn't really homophobic

A friend of mine made an alt-right sockpuppet to observe them, the unvetted sockpuppet is gaining friends fast.

Now you think this might be a mistake on the part of the far right, its not, its how they recruit.

I made a sockpuppet for leftist groups and they wouldn't even let it in meme groups without vetting. I had to convince an admin to protect my identity from stalkers just to be allowed in basic spaces of our side.

The old adage holds true, the right looks for converts,. the left looks for traitors. We cant win unless we fix this.

Ah PostgreSQL disk usage. The bane of my life.

White Americans talk shit about people creating their own safe spaces like they didn't have this thing called segregation.

"No, I don't really rise and shine. Most days, I just caffeinate and then hope for the best"

Maybe I just really try to be positive and happy and use witches.town for that? It's probably bad for oneself to be angry/negative all the time.... I dunno

The other problem is I'm using one of my well know nicks, so I don't want put my really private (queer) stuff here. Oops!

There is a lot of little political stuff happening in mentioned on birdsite, I haven't put it on yet. A part of me is sick and tired of it. A part of me doesn't want to turn this instance into a negative space all about negative politics.

But social media & birdsite is very important for challenging the Establishment (Ireland's too small for real independent press)!

Gah dilemma!

30s tech fella. I'm not directly affected by 's laws, but that doesn't mean I don't care
