Fediverse discourse, freeze peach Afficher plus

I'm trying this strange video that is supposed to relax my dog:

"Woofering Heights: a film to help relax dogs stressed by fireworks and loud noises"

No idea what the narrator is talking about and I'm not sure if I even want to. But the dog actually seems to approve?

Happy new year of Linux on the desktop

RT @HyruleWilds@twitter.com: I literally found a guy complaining about how James Bond could be a woman / non-white by sarcastically saying "Why not remake Jurassic Park with gender-fluid dinosaurs."

Websites that always use iPhones/Macs in their mockups when ~80% of the world uses Androids/PCs is maybe a good metaphor for how we in the tech industry tend to design products that serve the privileged few (like ourselves) who can afford such luxury items

"Hackers don't break software, they simply demonstrate that it was already broken"

RT @m_m_myers@twitter.com: Right wing skeptics: "We value individual liberty and people should be able to do anything they want if it doesn't hurt others."

Same guys: "If you don't socially conform with your assigned gender, you deserve to be legally discriminated against and relentlessly harassed."

like... Google is clearly a paperclip maximizer whose fitness function is "organize all the world's information" instead of "organize all the world's information without turning the planet into a surveillance-capitalism hellscape"

@Baerd @sherby and in the amount of effort / work given to different topics. And in how science is communicated and used. And the fact that "science" is full of people (scientists). And the history of science is full of political issues etc.

You're right that the original quote is a simplification, but so is nearly any statement! Including yours about science. 🙂

"if you don't think something is political, it's because you share its politics"

@RunningInCircles depends on how you define a century. I'm using the common idea that 1 Jan 1900 was start of 20th. Hence 1Jan 2018 is 18 years into 21st. Hence the people then where children

RT @_bethbethbeth_@twitter.com: My Dad’s just told me that on New Year’s Eve, every single adult in the world will have been born in the 20th century and every child will have been born in the 21st century, and that’s the only day that’s true for, and my mind is suitably BLOWN

RT @mcclure111@twitter.com: In the thing our culture calls "" you are supposed to consider yourself to have a right to the wealth of your parents/ancestors but not to share any guilt for the crimes that your parents/ancestors committed to acquire that wealth

Some of my thoughts on #decentralization in 2017, including secure scuttlebutt, mesh wireless, mastodon, and how companies might help. rbs.io/2017/12/decentralizatio

I'm trying to look into but I've only got a phone, so I'm trying to . Can't see how to get it to work, but I suppose it is alpha software!

RT @stavvers@twitter.com: This is the thing: bigots aren't Galileo speaking truth to power. They're the ones who locked Galileo up because they didn't like new paradigms that challenge their dogma.
