good statements for men to practice:
1) I’m sorry
2) I shouldn’t have done that
3) no problem, goodnight
4) dude, don’t say that shit
5) please continue
6) she wasn’t finished
7) how can I help
8) actually, that was her idea

@Jim_Trinca the UK minister for brexit said exactly this about a year ago. Referred to the internal UK border with Ireland

@Jim_Trinca I think a lot of them don't think Ireland is independent, and that it's merely like Scotland.

DON'T FORGET TO DO SOMETHING NICE FOR YOURSELF TODAY.

THERE'S ALWAYS A GOOD REASON. IF YOU'RE DOWN, IT'S A PICK ME UP. IF YOU'RE DOIN GOOD, IT'S A REWARD.

HONESTLY THOUGH, YOU DON'T NEED A REASON TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.

@frankiesaxx @vfrmedia oh I think I understand what you mean. I might be thinking of something different.

I agree that it's bad when someone toots "look at this joke twitter.com/user/123", which requires you to go to twitter to see the content.

Whereas I copypaste the content into mastodon, with a link back for attrib, but you don't need to go to twitter to see it.

@wxl @starbreaker I have rarely had a problem with config files being lost or messed up. I use chef on production servers, which is basically keeping them in git anyway

@frankiesaxx I've been doing that, but mostly because it's good content (oh God did I just say that 😮) that I think people here would like. I social networks are like chicken and the egg. Nothing interesting there, so no-one takes part. I'm trying to make mastodon more benefital for people...

I quote & link to the original tweet because it's a bit sneaky not to.

For a project which uses nodejs I checked the node_modules director into git and that was a great idea. Now I have a known good

Information overwhelm is a myth. The library always had more books than you could consume. What you're dealing with, is distraction overwhelm. Reduce the distractions and you automatically reduce the overwhelm.

I'm developing some software that produces data, except it has a problem with a common use case. So of course now I have an idea for an interesting optimisation.

@szbalint pen & paper have the advantage that the voter themselves can know that their vote was recorded correctly

Something for the folks new to Mastodon. It's generally considered polite to put politics behind a CW. It's honestly a depression and distressing topic these days.

@phryk Those landmasses are not in mercator projection... Greenland isn't about as big as Africa.
