I am ambivalent about a having a "be polite & respectful". It's a very good advice in general, and when you first meet someone. But it's not as bad as bigotry, and there are times when it's not bad at all.

@zool first of heard of the Reiser defence. Damore (the Google memo fella) is now saying his autism is (partially?) responsible for what he wrote. Same idea.
